Markham council has approved the revised development proposal for Hildebrand Gardens to build a 1,081-unit independent living retirement home complex on Highway 7 East.

The Official Plan amendment seeks to increase the maximum permitted height from eight storeys to 14 storeys and the maximum density from 3.95 to 6.42 FSI.

The owner proposes to redevelop the vacant subject lands to facilitate the proposed development, which includes a tiered nine-storey building, a tiered 13- to 14-storey L-shaped building fronting Highway 7 and a tiered 13-storey building.
