Are you a local volunteer? If so, the last week of April is just for you.
National Volunteer Week runs from April 24 to 30 and Volunteer MBC is holding a flag raising at Celebration Square in Mississauga on April 24 at 2 p.m. to honour all who give their time for community good.
“This flag is being raised to honour each and every person who makes a difference in our community through volunteering,” said Marina Campos, the director of operations at Volunteer MBC.
Volunteer MBC is an organization that connects people in Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga to volunteer opportunities across organizations in Peel.
Volunteers are encouraged to wear green to the flag raising, to represent Volunteer MBC’s colour, the theme for this year’s week is #EmpathyInAction.
“Being able to witness the hoisting of the Volunteer MBC flag on an auspicious day fills me with great pride and joy. I have so much respect for the work Volunteer MBC does and what our volunteer centre stands for in the region we serve,” said Campos.
There will also be a volunteer appreciation awards ceremony held virtually on April 21 at 7 p.m. Tickets are free, but attendees can buy youth bonus cards for a chance to win a wine lover’s escape retreat at Hockley Valley Resort north of Orangeville.
