The City of Toronto will embark on pothole blitz before the Easter long weekend in a bid to provide motorists with a smoother ride.

The city has budgeted about $4.4 million in 2022 to fix potholes, adding each repair costs $25.

About 100 staff will work 12-hour shifts every day this week -- instead of eight-hour shifts -- to get the work done.

“Our hardworking road repair crews will be working extended hours this week to tackle potholes and to keep our roads in a state of good repair for all road users ahead of the Easter long weekend,” Mayor John Tory said.

The public can also report potholes to the city’s 311 service. Since Jan. 1, city crews have repaired more than 60,000 potholes.
