The annual Ontario public salary disclosure list -- the “Sunshine List” -- catalogues each public employee earning $100,000 or more.

In King Township, 37 employees earned $100,000 or more, excluding any taxable benefits paid. That’s about a 28 per cent increase compared to 2020 numbers -- one of the highest increases in the number of employees earning $100,000 or more in the region after Aurora’s 38 per cent increase.

Of the town’s “Sunshine List,” two fire personnel were listed, fire and emergency services and Fire Chief Jim Wall and deputy fire chief James Arnold.

Mayor Steve Pellegrini earned $152,556 (excluding benefits), including $59,600 from York Region council.

That works out to about $5.58 per King Township resident -- the highest mayor salary to resident ratio in the region.

One King Township employee earned more than $100,000 in 2021.

The top five King Township employees include (excluding benefits):

$253,995 -- CAO, Daniel Kostopoulos

$178,776 -- Director community services Chris Fasciano; director growth management, chief planner Stephen Naylor; and director corporate services and township clerk Kathryn Moyle (Smyth)

$177,858 -- Director of finance, township treasurer, Peggy Tollett
