Councillor wants community support for Vaughan music festival, the ‘first’ event with multicultural performances

Performances will feature professional and local young artists

Vaughan Coun. Sandra Racco is calling for community support for the upcoming music festival at the city’s emerging downtown core.

Vaughan International Music Festival is going to take place for three days starting June 10 and be free of charge for the next three years, and Racco is looking for sponsors to make this event a legend.

“We hope to attract some major sponsors for this annual event to assist us to defray some of the costs,” said Racco, who wants to “ensure that we market accessible to all.” “As this is a free event and open to everyone, we must find ways to get financial assistance.”

Racco is currently searching for up to $225,000 worth in sponsorship to cover the festival. Sponsors for presenting, events, media, entertainment, VIP lounge, decor, and community are all needed.

Also, donors are needed.

“To reach our goal, we do need the community to come together and support this great initiative through the participation of generous donors,” she said. “Your donation efforts will allow our citizens to enjoy, learn, and understand more about the cultural communities that make up Vaughan.”

Performances will also include artists from various cultures, such as Indigenous, Chinese, Latino, Korean, Italian, Caribbean, Philippine, Indian, and Vietnamese. However, the performers’ list is being finalized.

“This will be the first International Music Festival in both the city of Vaughan and York Region that will celebrate culture and diversity through multicultural performances in a variety of genres,” the councillor explained.

The performances will also showcase both professional and local young artists.
