Georgina lifts mandatory masking at town facilities

Residents entering town facilities will no longer be required to wear a mask.

Georgina’s move to lift mandatory mask requirements is in line with provincial measures announced earlier this month.

Some residents may still choose to wear a mask in public settings and those who feel more comfortable wearing one are encouraged to do so.

Residents are still encouraged to conduct a health screening assessment for COVID-19 symptoms before entering any town building. Anyone experiencing symptoms is asked to stay home until their symptoms are gone.

Showing proof of vaccination is also no longer required to enter town facilities.

Under provincial regulations, masks are still required in high-risk setting, such as while using public transit and in long-term care, health-care and congregate care centres.

Recently, the Southlake Community Ontario Health Team (OHT) opened a COVID-19, cold and flu clinic at Balhaven Hall, 25202 Warden Ave., and is open by appointment only for those experiencing moderate COVID-19 or flu symptoms.

The Georgina Civic Centre remains closed to the public. Residents can contact Service Georgina at 905-476-4301 or info@georgina.ca.
