Vaughan holding virtual sessions on plans to revamp four stormwater ponds

Did you know that Vaughan has about 140 stormwater management ponds?
If you didn’t know that, then add this piece of information, too: the city is planning to revamp and enhance four stormwater ponds and will discuss the details at upcoming two virtual sessions, starting March 30.
These stormwater management ponds are designed to collect rainfall and surface water runoff to make sure that excess water has somewhere to go.
So here are the dates for the virtual sessions:
1. VILLA PARK POND

Some info on the pond: Villa Park Pond is a dry pond facility located at the northwest corner of Villa Park Drive and Pine Valley Drive. Some of the work involved includes pond excavation to convert the facility into a wet pond and adding a permanent pool.
Timeline: Construction is anticipated to take place from fall 2022 to fall 2023.
2. ACCUMEN INVESTMENTS POND

Some info on the pond: Accumen Investments Pond is a dry pond facility located east of Kaiser Drive and north of the Partridge Crescent cul-de-sac. The facility provides flood control for the contributing catchment area.
The pond excavation to convert the facility into a wet pond and include a permanent pond is also being proposed. Improvements to Harmonia Pond and the Saddle Tree Crescent Outfall will also be discussed at this session.
Timeline: Construction is anticipated to take place from fall 2022 to fall 2023.
3. HARMONIA POND AND SADDLE TREE CRESCENT OUTFALL

Some info on the pond: The pond is a dry pond facility located east of Harmonia Crescent and Dunstan Crescent. The facility provides flood control for the contributing catchment area. Pond excavation to convert the facility into a wetland and include a shallow and permanent pool is part of the enhancement work recommended.
Improvements to Accumen Investments Pond and the Saddle Tree Crescent Outfall will also be discussed at this session.

4. SADDLE TREE CRESCENT OUTFALL

Some info on the pond: The pond is situated to the northeast of Saddle Tree Crescent and St. Ives Court. The area is a park with open space adjacent to Robinson Creek. The existing outfall structure discharges directly into the creek without any control.
