Are you planning to run a business from home or add a shed to your house? Do you have concerns about cannabis processing? The City of Richmond Hill is seeking your input on its zoning bylaws.

This spring, Richmond Hill is launching the final round of virtual public information sessions as the city continues its zoning bylaw review.

Zoning bylaws affect everyone and all properties in the city. They regulate land use, including where buildings such as houses and offices and other structures like sheds and cabanas can be located, what size they can be and how they may be used.

At the public information centres, residents are expected to learn more about zoning issues, trends and recommended options and have an opportunity to provide comments about the proposed options.

The public may register at richmondhill.ca two weeks before each session.

This year's first session is scheduled for March 31, 6:30 -- 8:30 p.m., about a home-based business, uses and residential accessory structures.

As work becomes more integrated into life, it is expected that home-based employment will increase, as stated in the city’s draft technical paper.

Prior to attending the session, the public is encouraged to read the paper, which identifies a number of options for the city to consider in regulating home occupation, live-work units, home industries and home businesses.

The next two sessions will be held on the first two Mondays in April, 6:30 -- 8:30 p.m., to discuss residential parking and cannabis processing facilities, respectively.

Residents can subscribe to RichmondHill.ca/ZoneRH to receive notifications as more information becomes available.

Richmond Hill is currently in the first phase of its four-phase comprehensive zoning bylaw review.
