Newmarket hospital hosting virtual town hall to mark pandemic anniversary
More than 4,000 emergency department patients and close to 1,500 inpatients have been treated for COVID-19 at Southlake in the last 2 years

Southlake Regional Health Centre CEO Arden Krystal will join other Southlake leaders during a virtual community town hall March 22 to commemorate the two-year anniversary of the start of the pandemic.
They will share their reflections and perspectives of the last two years and look back at the challenges and accomplishments of staff and physicians and how they pulled together to keep communities safe, according to a news release.
In the two years since the pandemic hit, close to 1,500 inpatients with COVID-19 have been admitted to Southlake. Its emergency departmentĀ treated more than 4,000 patients with COVID-19 and its assessment centre tested more than 285,000 individuals.
During the town hall, Southlake will discuss the hospital’s priorities as it looks to a post-pandemic period of recovery, as well as the status of theĀ advocacy for the master plan for a new hospital.
The one-hour town hall will include an open question and answer session. Questions can be sent in advance to questions@southlake.ca or asked through the chat during the session.
The town hall will take place through Microsoft Teams March 22 from 7 to 8 p.m. and the session will be recorded and available for those who are not able to attend live.
