York regional police say there is “no threat to public safety” following a large police presence at Promenade Mall in Vaughan.

Several officers were sent to the mall on Thursday night after police received a call about a person in crisis.

Employees at the mall told CityNews people are not being allowed to enter the mall, but they didn’t know what prompted the police response.

York regional police said following a two hour search, they were unsuccessful in locating the person in crisis.

The incident is now being investigated as a possible swatting call.
