A multi-faith prayer vigil for Ukraine will be held in Newmarket March 6.

Hosted by faith communities, Mayor John Taylor and council, the event to support Ukraine as it continues to suffer devastating losses and the fleeing of more than 1 million residents as a result of the invasion of Russia, will take place at 1 p.m. at Riverwalk Commons at 200 Doug Duncan Dr.

“I think it is important to hold this vigil to ensure that the Ukrainian population in Newmarket knows that they have our support and prayers,” Taylor said.

“I think it’s also important because I know there are so many people in Newmarket who want to, in some way, show their support for the Ukrainian people. I believe this is a very important and a very dangerous time for global stability. We must all find a way to show (Russian president Vladimir) Putin that the world stands with Ukraine.”

All are welcome to attend the vigil.
