As per the forecast and the anticipated accumulation of snow, the City of Richmond Hill is declaring a winter parking event, which is expected to require snow removal.

Effective Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 4 p.m., on-street parking is prohibited, and temporary parking permits are not valid for on-street parking until winter operations have ended.

Vehicles parked on the road may receive a ticket. Vehicles in the way of city plows, salters or emergency vehicles could be towed.

After 4 p.m., permit holders can park at select city-owned facilities. The temporary parking permit must be displayed clearly on the vehicle's dash. A list of select city-owned facilities can be found at RichmondHill.ca/ParkingPermits.

Residents can help the city's snow clearing efforts:

Don't park on the road or across the sidewalk when it's snowing or when snow is expected.

Place waste bins away from the curb on the right side of the driveway (if you're facing the house) on waste collection days.

Don't park near the bottom of the driveway.

Don't shovel snow back onto the road or sidewalk.

Clear the snow from around fire hydrants to make them accessible in case of an emergency.
