"Clean Up, Green Up Weeks" are back and everyone is invited to help protect our natural environment by volunteering to clean up around their neighbourhoods.
From April 22 to May 6, residents, businesses, community groups and schools are encouraged to come together to help pick up litter that has accumulated over the winter in parks, trails, on boulevards and in open spaces.
The City of Richmond Hill will provide registered groups with gloves, garbage and recycling bags, and arrange for collection of the filled bags.
Register online at RichmondHill.ca/CleanUpWeeks by Sunday, April 10.
In 2019, with the help of 10,300 volunteers, we cleaned up more than 180 parks, trails, and streets in our community. After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, the city is excited to relaunch this important and successful initiative and help build a more sustainable community.
COVID-19 safety tips for participants
Stay home if you're sick, even with mild symptoms
Wear gloves while picking up litter
Avoid touching your face
Maintain physical distancing of at least two metres from others
Follow existing provincial gathering limits
When you're finished cleaning, dispose of your gloves in a garbage bag and immediately wash or sanitize your hands.
