The City of Richmond Hill has reinstated construction noise limits back to pre-pandemic levels. Effective immediately, construction noise in Richmond Hill is, once again, prohibited during:

The city also changed the noise bylaw for deliveries to follow new rules outlined in the Municipal Act.

Noise due to loading and unloading is prohibited between 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. and all day Sundays and statutory holidays unless it is for retail business, restaurant, hotel, motel or distribution centre.

During the pandemic, the province temporarily suspended municipalities' authority to regulate noise related to the delivery of goods and construction. This suspension was lifted, reinstating municipal powers to regulate these noise types.

Richmond Hill's Noise Bylaw provides standards for noise in our community, outlining times and limits that certain noises are allowed.
