Richmond Hill accepting applications for Ward 4 councillor

The City of Richmond Hill is now accepting applications for the vacancy in the office of Ward 4 councillor. The vacancy was created when former Ward 4 Coun. David West was elected mayor in the January byelection.
HOW TO APPLY
Qualified individuals are invited to make an appointment with the Office of the Clerk (225 East Beaver Creek Road) to provide:
Council Vacancy Application Form
Council Vacancy Declaration of Qualification (Proof of identity is required to sign the Declaration of Qualification)
Note: The Declaration of Qualification must be signed in person with a witness in the Office of the Clerk. COVID-19 health and safety protocols are in place at the municipal offices. More information is available at RichmondHill.ca/Ward4Vacancy.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible to apply, you must meet the following qualifications as set out in the Municipal Elections Act:
a Canadian citizen;
at least 18 years old;
a resident of the City of Richmond Hill, an owner or tenant of land in the City of Richmond Hill, or the spouse of an owner or tenant of land in Richmond Hill; and
not prohibited from voting under any law.
Applications close on March 15 at 2 p.m.
Council will appoint a candidate during a special council meeting in March. The successful candidate will be sworn in to office as soon as possible and serve until the end of the term, Nov. 14, 2022.
