Looking for something fun to do on your Family Day long weekend? Richmond Hill is full of great activities and places to explore for families of every age and size.

STRAP ON YOUR SKATES FOR OUTDOOR SKATING

Glide through the trees at a 250-metre looped Richmond Green Skate Trail or skate on the natural rinks at Mill Pond and Lake Wilcox. Remember that skating on stormwater ponds is prohibited as the ice is not safe. Visit RichmondHill.ca/OutdoorSkating for up-to-date skating information.

BRIGHTEN UP YOUR NIGHT AT RICHMOND GREEN

Enjoy a magical evening stroll through the Winter Lights display along the Heritage Walkway.

CHECK OUT THE YOUNG ARTISTS' DISPLAY

On now at Richmond Green, enjoy a public outdoor art exhibit showcasing work by emerging Richmond Hill-based local youth artists as part of Black History Month activities. Stop by Family Day Monday, Feb. 21 in the afternoon for a meet and greet with one of the artists. Learn more at RichmondHill.ca/Arts.

GEOCACHE AROUND LAKE WILCOX

Explore the outside of the community centre, park and park's amenities, and the natural wilderness around this beautiful local lake and destination park. It takes approximately one hour to complete. More information and a link to an app is available under the “Adventure and Astronomy Series” at RichmondHill.ca/WinterFun.

SNOWSHOE OR CROSS-COUNTRY SKI

Bring your own gear and explore Richmond Hill's natural winter beauty across one of the city's many trails! Visit RichmondHill.ca/ParksandTrails.

TAKE FIDO FOR A ROMP AT OFF-LEASH AREA

Take your pup for an outing in the snow where they can run around safely, meet new dog buddies and enjoy the outdoors. Did someone say ... walkies? More doggie info available at RichmondHill.ca/OffLeashAreas.

HAVE A HOOT BIRD-WATCHING

Richmond Hill is home to a variety of birds in winter, including northern cardinals, black capped chickadees, blue jays, snowy owls and screech owls. Bring your binoculars on your hike or park visit and see if you can spot some of these feathered friends.

SNAP THE PERFECT FAMILY PIC

Richmond Hill's parks and trails have beautiful snow-covered natural features that make a perfect background for a winter family snapshot.
