The City of Vaughan is telling its citizens to “come prepared” as its community centres, fitness centres, arenas and swimming pools reopen.

“A little pre-planning will make your community centre check-in even easier,” the city said when notifying residents to be ready to show their proof of vaccination and identification at the designated entrances.

Proof of vaccination is a must for everyone 12 and older.

“Please be patient and arrive early -- at least 15 minutes in advance -- to avoid being late for a recreational activity,” it added.

However, proof of vaccination is not required at library branches.

The city also urged those who aren’t vaccinated to get their jab as soon as possible to slow the spread of COVID-19. Mass vaccination clinics in York Region are now accepting walk-ins for eligible groups to receive first, second and booster doses.

The news comes after Ontario recently announced that it is cautiously and gradually easing COVID-19 public health measures, starting Jan. 31.
