A child-friendly vaccination clinic at Markham Stouffville Hospital for kids aged five to 11 kicked off Jan. 23.

Three clinics were launched this month by Oak Valley Health, in partnership with the Eastern York Region North Durham Ontario Health Team.

As of Sunday, appointments are still available for the next two clinics, scheduled for Jan. 29 and 30.

Vaccinations are being administered at the COVID-19 Community Vaccination Centre located at the Cornell Community Centre at 3201 Bur Oak Ave., on the east side of Markham Stouffville Hospital on Bur Oak Avenue at Church Street.

On Nov. 29, the centre opened its doors and welcomed youth with an inviting space and special activities.

The very first child to be vaccinated was Brendan St. Croix, who said he “felt good” after receiving the shot.

Access to the vaccination centre through the hospital is not permitted, but parking is free (validated) at the Cornell Community Centre.

Specific days at the centre have been designated for children (aged 5-11 year olds, pediatric doses) and adult (12 years old and older, full doses).

Individuals who are 12 to 29 years of age will receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. Individuals 30 years of age and older will receive Moderna.
