City to begin towing illegally parked vehicles

The City of Toronto will start towing vehicles on Wednesday that are illegally parked or have been abandoned in order to clear the streets of snow.

Vehicles to be towed will be those parked in designated snow routes and those that are in the way of TTC routes.

These vehicles will be tagged and towed to a compound.

When possible, the city will do “friendly tows” where vehicles will be towed to a nearby location to make way for snowplows.

City staff will attempt to contact residents to provide an opportunity to move their vehicles prior to any friendly towing taking place.

Beginning Thursday, requests to clear snow from areas that have been missed can be made by calling 311.
