Vaughan is bringing back its two ‘natural’ ice rinks in Maple and Thornhill

City of Vaughan also expanding its outdoor amenities

Vaughan has invited its residents to lace up their skates!

The city said Tuesday, Jan. 18 that it’s expanding its outdoor amenities and bringing back two natural ice rinks on tennis courts.

The first one is located at Maple Community Centre -- 10190 Keele St. -- and the second is North Thornhill Community Centre - 300 Pleasant Ridge Ave.

These two new locations will be open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., weather permitting.

Residents will also have the option to skate at one of the city’s five outdoor rinks located at Chancellor Community Centre, Dufferin Clark Community Centre, Father E. Bulfon Community Centre, Garnet A. Williams Community Centre and Vellore Village Community Centre.

Weather permitting, these outdoor rinks will be open daily until 11 p.m., except for Father E. Bulfon which closes at 10:30 p.m.

Rinks are also subject to daily closures for regular maintenance 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesdays at Chancellor and Dufferin Clark community centres, and on Thursdays at Father E. Bulfon, Garnet A. Williams and Vellore Village community centres.

Changerooms are not available for use, but washroom access is permitted. Picnic tables will be on-site for skaters to put on and remove their skates.
