Starting Jan. 5, Georgina will revert back to a modified stage 2 reopening plan, which includes closing recreation facilities and cancelling winter recreation programs. This comes after the province announced its move to the second reopening stage.
The additional public safety measures will be in place for 21 days, until Jan. 26 and are subject to public health trends.
The Georgina Civic Centre remains closed to the public. Residents can reach customer service Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by calling 905-476-4301.
Here’s what you need to know about the town’s recreation programs, library services and outdoor amenities.
Are indoor, in-person programs cancelled?
Yes.
All indoor sport and recreation facilities are closed to the public. The town will contact participants directly and fees will be refunded.

Will The ROC remain open?
Yes, weather permitting.
Strict health and safety measures and capacity limits are in place.
ROC tickets must be purchased online in advance and masks must be worn at all times. The chalet will be open for washrooms and limited cafeteria takeout options only.
There will be no dine-in or warming area within the chalet.

Is outdoor skating permitted?
Yes.
The Pefferlaw Ice Pad remains open. Pre-registration is not required and admission is free.
Masks must be worn when physical distancing cannot be maintained, including when lacing up in the skate area.

Are the public library branches closed?
Yes.
But curbside service is available at all three Georgina public library branches.
During the closure, the library will not offer the following services: garbage bag tags; fire permits; in-person browsing; computer use; printing and photocopying; resident parking passes; green or blue bin for sale; or accepting water testing bottles.
Water testing bottles will be handed out at the Pefferlaw branch only.

Are trails and playgrounds closed?
No.
Parks, trails and playgrounds remain open. Residents are to follow health and safety measures outlined by the province, including wearing a mask when physical distancing cannot be maintained.
Is ice fishing permitted?
Yes, with limitations.
Social indoor gatherings, which includes ice huts, are restricted to five people or fewer and outdoor gatherings are restricted to 10 people or fewer.

All special public events are cancelled. The Stephen Leacock Theatre is closed to the public and ticket holders will be contacted directly.
