King Township is following the direction of the province to help stop the spread of COVID-19, including the Omicron variant.

The township will require an enhanced vaccine certificate with a QR code starting Jan. 4 from anyone entering municipal facilities where proof of vaccination is required.

The QR code can be used digitally or by printing a paper copy.

You can download the enhanced vaccine certificate at covid-19.ontario.ca/get-proof/.

Ontario is also adding another layer of protection against COVID-19 and its variants by launching a holiday testing blitz to offer voluntary rapid antigen screening to people for free at pop-up sites across the province.

Throughout December to mid-January, up to two million rapid tests will be provided for free at pop-up sites in high-traffic places such as malls, retail settings, holiday markets, public libraries and transit hubs.

The Ontario government accelerated the booster vaccine rollout on Dec. 20 by expanding eligibility to all individuals age 18 and over, as well as shortening the interval to three months following a person’s second dose.
