Psst, do you know about Aurora’s downtown?

The town has launched its first-ever economic development campaign called "Emerging Aurora" to boost awareness of it being “one of the GTA’s best-kept secrets” and draw attention to its innovative business community and downtown revitalization that's underway.

A marketing plan has been identified as a key action item in the town’s economic development strategic plan, the municipality said in a statement.

The campaign will incorporate four primary goals: investment attraction, business support, downtown revitalization and community engagement including talent development.

“Aurora is an amazing town that was built by innovators and entrepreneurs, the people behind great ideas and community-building,” Mayor Tom Mrakas said.

“Aurora has been one of the GTA’s best-kept secrets for many years, and with the emerging growth and revitalization underway, we are pleased to share that what is great is about to become exceptional.”

The Emerging Aurora campaign encompasses various elements designed to assist businesses in locating, connecting and engaging with the community including: a refreshed web portal, videos, podcasts, advertising, and social media, among many other exciting initiatives in the works, the town statement said.

Additionally, ongoing collaboration in support of business includes partners from the Aurora Economic Development Corporation, Aurora Chamber of Commerce, Aurora Downtown BIA, York Region Economic Development and Central Counties Tourism.

“The Emerging Aurora campaign is designed to be an energetic and forward-thinking message to businesses that the town and its partners are here to support them in their growth,” the statement said.

“The campaign will showcase the many innovators, business leaders and organizations that share their passion for Aurora and invite other business leaders to think of Aurora as a place they can call home, where they will be in good company.”
