The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville has announced the hiring of Sunny Bains as its new director of leisure and community services.
Bains served the last six years as director of recreation services at the City of Vaughan. He has worked in various roles, including manager of business services, manager of community centres and has also fulfilled the role of acting deputy city manager of community services.
“We are very pleased to have Sunny join our team as our new director of leisure & community services,” Stouffville Mayor Iain Lovatt said. “In his 18 years in the field he has covered it all, including strategic planning, budget development and community involvement -- everything we are looking for in Stouffville.”
Before his work in Vaughan, Bains worked for the City of Mississauga.
“Sunny also lives in Stouffville,” Lovatt said. “That is very beneficial to everyone, including our residents.”
The leisure and community services department oversees the town’s recreation programs and services, parks, special events, the museum and community centre and the ‘Nineteen on the Park’ theatre.
In assuming the role Bains said, “I am thrilled to be joining the team at Whitchurch-Stouffville; the town I proudly call home.”
