Longtime Town of Georgina employee Ryan Cronsberry has been appointed as the town’s new CAO.

The appointment comes after former CAO, Dave Reddon, announced his retirement earlier this fall after having worked at the town for more than 40 years.

Cronsberry started working for the town in 1998 in various roles, starting as a summer student and working his way up to bylaws manager, deputy CAO and now to CAO.

“He is a solution focused leader and his knowledge and background in municipal government is truly a tremendous asset to the town,” said Mayor Margaret Quirk. “(Cronsberry)’s strong management skills, together with his experience as a municipal leader, provide a unique background for him to lead staff and advise council.”

Cronsberry’s first main focus as he steps into his new role as the most senior staff member at the town, is COVID-19 pandemic recovery for the town and its residents.

“We have all faced challenges over the last year and a half, but I am confident that we are well-positioned to recover from the pandemic stronger than before,” he said. “We have a great team in place that can meet the challenges and expectations of our growing community.”
