Re: your article Vaughan councillor tells MPP she 'respectfully' disagrees on 'moving forward' with Highway 413.

Beyond a doubt, the debate in newspapers and on various forums on the planned upcoming Highway 413 has reached a level of euphoria by the public and its representatives. Both sides coming up with their own reasonings: one side primarily based on environmental considerations while the other side relies on the convenience of reduced travelling time on the roads.

However, one aspect which seems to be not given its due weightage is what in your report also states "the underuse of Highway 407." All motorists know it is due to its toll charges, which is quite high if taken all factors in consideration. A compromise solution therefore could be considerably reducing or maybe waiving off the toll on Highway 407. The cost involved thus would be from saving by not constructing Highway 413. It is one way to better manage road traffic saving the motorists travel time and an advantage to climate change. The main reason motorists avoid Highway 407 is its toll charges, which needs to be re evaluated in depth by the Ford government now.

As some reports suggest that there are vested financial interests in constructing Highway 413 then it maybe a totally different story altogether.
