Have you driven through the intersection of Mayfield Road and Chinguacousy Road lately?

There are some interesting things happening here.

With developments underway to the south, and the east, you might be wondering what’s going to happen to the old farmhouse tucked in behind brush and trees.

JUST THE FACTS

This parcel of land used to be owned by Choice Properties and was previously slated for commercial development.

In January, a company called TFP Mayching Developments Limited bought the property for $25 million. The owners of TFP Mayching are popular names in the local development market, TACC Construction, Fieldgate Homes and Paradise developments.

The company plans to build a 260-unit subdivision on the site, featuring mostly townhouses and single-detached homes.

The farmhouse on the corner is being restored by TFP Mayching and moved down the street closer to Clockwork Drive.

This home was built circa 1870 and is the one of the last stone farmhouses in Brampton. It was owned by Robert Hall, a local farmer at the time who became active in politics, serving as a councillor for Peel County. Hall was also a justice of the peace.

The Robert Hall house will be positioned across the street from the Beechwood house, which has already been restored.

A heritage park will be established beside the Beechwood.

Work on the Robert Hall house is set to start in summer 2022, with construction on the subdivision starting around the same time.
