Everyone is invited to Aurora’s fifth annual Menorah Lighting Ceremony on Dec. 1.

The town and Chabad Aurora are hosting the event in the front courtyard of the town hall at 100 John West Way from 6 to 8 p.m.

The celebration, being held on the fourth day of Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights, begins with the lighting of the menorah, immediately followed by a fire juggling show. The festivities continue with samples of traditional celebratory foods.

Hanukkah is an eight-day Jewish holiday celebrated each year to commemorate the rededication of the temple in Jerusalem in the second century BC.

The festival is observed by the lighting of the menorah, which is the most recognizable symbol of Hanukkah.
