Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus, right down Candy Cane Lane.

For the second year, Santa will not travel by sleigh down Main Street in Newmarket.

The annual Santa Claus parade takes a different turn this year, with a new walk-through event.

But he’s still coming -- and he’s excited.

The jolly ol’ elf will be ho-ho-hoing and waving to passersby along Newmarket’s new Candy Cane Lane.

Candy Cane Lane, an evening walk-through holiday event, will feature Santa himself along with stationary themed floats, musicians and buskers along Cane Parkway.

Pack the kids in the wagon and enjoy a winter walk to get yourself in the holiday spirit.

The walk-through event is scheduled for Nov. 20, 6 to 9 p.m., on Cane Parkway between William Roe Boulevard and Roywood Crescent.

Cane Parkway between William Roe Boulevard and Roywood Crescent will be closed to traffic on Nov. 20, from noon to 10:30 p.m.

Floats and live entertainment will line the southbound lane on Cane Parkway. Candy Cane Lane attendees will be able to walk along the northbound lanes, which allows plenty of space for physical distancing.

Non-perishable food items and monetary donations will be collected in support of the Newmarket Food Pantry.

Letters to Santa will also be collected and mailed to the North Pole. Include your name and return address to receive a response from Santa and his elves.

Santa’s address is: Santa Claus, North Pole, H0H 0H0, Canada.

Candy Cane Lane is accessible from the Tom Taylor Trail.

Parking is available at Fairy Lake Park, 520 Water St, Riverwalk Commons, 200 Doug Duncan Dr, Town of Newmarket Municipal Office, 395 Mulock Dr, Gorman Pool, 424 D’Arcy St and surrounding streets where parking is permitted.
