Trisan Construction in Schomberg has plans to develop five properties on Highway 9, just east of Highway 27, into a new industrial area and business park.

JUST THE FACTS

At a public meeting held on Nov. 3, a planning consultant outlined a development proposal for a pair of abutting properties located at 5752 and 5878 Hwy. 9. Two of the blocks are located in New Tecumseth, and the other three are located in Bradford West Gwillimbury.

The properties would contain a number of buildings, parking lots and storage areas, along with a storm water pond and sewage treatment facility. Environmental features are located on the north end of the properties, including a creek.

The consultant said Magna Industries has already expressed interest in building a manufacturing facility on one of the properties in New Tecumseth, which would generate an estimated 75 full-time positions.

The proposal also includes an internal east-west road that would be accessed through the signalized intersection at Showa Court, removing all the private entrances on Highway 9 except for one emergency access point.

The proposal is still in the early phases of the application stage. The development would require a number of approvals from the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority, but a number of reports and studies have not been provided yet, or remain under review.
