Consider this your warning.
Aurora is bringing in winter overnight parking restrictions this month, meaning you can’t park on streets from Nov. 15 to April 15 between 2 and 6 a.m.
The restriction will be enforced regardless of weather or road conditions during that time.
Bylaw officers will be ticketing vehicles that are parked on roads overnight during the restricted hours. The fine for each parking offence is $50.
In addition, cars must not interfere with clearing of snow on roads. The fine for doing so is $75.
The town provides occasional-use on-street-parking permits.
Residents and visitors can apply for up to 12 free parking passes a year by visiting aurora.gtechna.net/parkingconsideration/visitorpass.
However, the permits are not valid during “active snow events,” which includes the day(s) before, during, or after a major event or when plowing or salting are taking place.
The town’s fleet of snow clearing equipment and crews maintain about 220 kilometres of roads and sidewalks.
Traffic is usually not heavy during the overnight hours, which helps crews meet service delivery standards for snow removal and maintenance.
Winter maintenance may occur over several days before or after inclement weather.
