What do you want to see change at your local hospital?

Shorter wait times? More doctors and nurses? Better quality care?

If you have ideas for improvement, Mackenzie Health wants to hear from you.

The regional health centre is reaching out to residents of Vaughan, King and Richmond Hill to help shape the future of care at MacKenzie Health.

The first opportunity to provide input is via a short online survey that is open until Dec. 8.

The second, a live telephone town hall at 7 p.m. on Nov. 16, is a chance to engage with hospital leaders in a two-way conversation and provide feedback about how Mackenzie Health can better serve your needs.

The telephone town hall will be hosted by Mackenzie Health president and CEO Altaf Stationwala; executive vice president, chief operating officer and chief nursing executive Mary-Agnes Wilson; and vice president of medical planning and chief of staff Dr. Steven Jackson.

At the time of the telephone town hall, residents will automatically receive a phone call on their residential line.

To be sure residents receive a phone call at their preferred contact number, they are encouraged to complete the online form at mackenziehealth.ca/townhall.

The community will hear updates about hospital operations and future plans to enhance and expand programs and services in western York Region.

Both the town hall and survey aim to help shape future priorities as part of the first strategic plan as a two-hospital organization.

“With our second hospital now open, Mackenzie Health is at a pivotal moment in its history,” said Stationwala. “We have a unique opportunity to set the course for the next step in our organization’s journey, and it is so important that we listen to our community so we can continue to serve their health care needs in the best way that we can.”

The strategic plan will be rolled out in early 2022 and will set out Mackenzie Health’s focus, efforts and resources for the years to come.
