Newmarket reopening customer service centre; no appointments needed for fitness at Magna Centre

Town will gradually lift pandemic-related capacity limits for other recreational programs in the coming weeks

As Ontario emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic, Newmarket is reopening its in-person customer service centre on Nov. 1.

The customer service centre at the town hall at 395 Mulock Dr. will be open Mondays to Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Services available to residents include:

The town is currently only accepting cashless transactions for all payments.

In-person services noted above continue to be available at the Magna Centre at 800 Mulock Dr. and the Ray Twinney Recreation Complex at 100 Eagle St. W. customer service kiosk during regular hours of operation.

In addition to participating in a COVID-19 health screening questionnaire, members of the public will be required to show proof of full vaccination in order to enter the Magna Centre and the Ray Twinney Recreation Complex in accordance with provincial regulations.

With the province lifting capacity limits for restaurants and gyms on Nov. 1, Newmarket is lifting its capacity limit for the fitness centre at the Magna Centre and will no longer require patrons to register for a time slot in advance. Walk-ins are allowed as of Oct. 25.

The town will gradually lift capacity limits for other recreational programs in the coming weeks.

All other services beyond those noted above will continue to be available digitally.

Marriage licences and the commissioning of documents will continue to be available by appointment.

The town continues to offer alternative ways to serve the community during the pandemic.

For municipal emergencies after-hours, residents can call 905-895-5193 and press 3 to be directed to the after-hours line.

As of Nov. 8, the town will introduce more in-person services to the public by appointment only.

The town will continue to monitor the COVID-19 landscape and will gradually introduce more in-person services to the public.
