East Gwillimbury’s director of economic development, Margot Begin, has been recognized as one of the 10 best in the province by the Economic Development Council of Ontario.

“It’s an honour to be recognized among this group of accomplished economic development professionals and a testament to the work that we are doing here as a team in East Gwillimbury to support sustainable growth and a strong economic recovery,” Begin said. “The past months have been incredibly challenging for our businesses and it’s more important than ever to ensure that we are providing responsive, business-friendly support to the employers and investors who drive our economy.”

Some of Begin’s accomplishments over this past year include the launch of the Advantage EG website, successfully advancing the implementation of a rural broadband network, launching business advantage programs to assist companies through the COVID-19 pandemic and offering support for small business set up.

“On behalf of council, I congratulate Margot on being named one of the Economic Developers Council of Ontario’s Top Ten. A wonderful achievement for Margot and well deserved,” Mayor Virginia Hackson said.
