The Town of Georgina is reaching out to the community of Pefferlaw and the Ward 5 area, which includes Udora, Virginia, Port Bolster and Egypt, to gain a better understanding of recreational needs and priorities for the area.

Council set aside funds from previous budgets for recreational amenities in the area, Mayor Margaret Quirk said.

"There have been many suggestions put forth, including a skateboard park or splash pad," she said. "We want to hear from residents to know what the community’s priorities are."

The town launched a series of online surveys, the first of which closes Oct. 20. The second survey, with a narrowed down list of top priorities, will run Oct. 28 to Nov. 7.

The town is also planning an in-person session at the Pefferlaw Lions Community Hall in the coming weeks.

The survey asks about recreation activities, how often residents in the area visit the Pefferlaw Lions Community Hall and the Pefferlaw Ice Pad, what the community would like to see and what barriers residents in the Ward 5 area face in attending current programs offered by the town.
