King rec facilities to require participants, visitors to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination

King Township is requiring proof of COVID-19 vaccination before people are allowed into township recreational facilities and programs.
The condition started Sept. 22 in line with provincial guidelines that require Ontarians to be fully vaccinated (two doses plus 14 days) and provide their proof of vaccination as well as proof of identity (such as a driver’s licence or health card) to access certain public settings or facilities.
The enhanced vaccine certificate, as well as an verification smartphone app to allow businesses to read the QR code, will be available starting Oct. 22.
King staff will verify the vaccine certificate and government-issued identification.
Essential services have continued along with the following: King Heritage and Cultural Centre, Nobleton and Schomberg branches of the library and King Township municipal centre on Wednesdays by appointment for marriage licences, commissioning, building and planning questions.
