Town also seeking input from Pefferlaw, Ward 5 for services in area, writes Mayor
Fall has arrived, and so has the change of seasons.
It's also the time when our fall recreation programs start. Both the Georgina Leisure Pool and Georgina Gym have reopened for drop-in classes, recreation programs and third-party bookings.
Provincial COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place. Whether your interest is pickleball or tai chi or aquafitness, or programs for your kids or grandkids, there are a variety of programs to choose from.
For more information, or to register, please visit georgina.ca/recreation.
Public swims and public skating will start in late fall.
October will also start an outreach to Pefferlaw and the Ward 5 area regarding current and future recreational opportunities.
We want your input into recreational programs, facilities and services within the area. This will help us to understand the recreational priorities of Ward 5 residents for future planning.
Council has set aside some funds from past budgets for a new recreational facility in Ward 5. There have been many suggestions put forth, including a skateboard park or splash pad, but we want to hear from you to know what the community’s priorities are.
We also want to know if you currently participate in recreational programs, and if not, why? Are there programs you would want offered, and what barriers do residents face in attending the current programs?
There will be an in-person session at the Pefferlaw Lions Community Hall in late October, as well as online surveys; the first will start on Oct. 6, and they will run until Oct. 20.
The second survey will be created from the information obtained in the first survey to narrow down the top priorities, and will run from Oct. 28 to Nov. 7.
Please follow the town page, our website and social media for more details on the surveys and public session and please get engaged in the process.
