Town following other York Region municipalities by re-implementing 15-night limit on exemptions per vehicle
Cars parked on the road in Newmarket will once again be subject to the parking exemption program after it was altered temporarily to accommodate those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Newmarket is reinstating the parking exemption permit limit as of Sept. 7.
At the beginning of the pandemic, the limits of exemptions permitted per year were temporarily removed and all fees associated with the program were waived.
As of Sept. 7, the town will follow other York Region municipalities that have reinstated the parking exemption programs by re-implementing the 15-night limit on exemptions permitted per vehicle, per year. There won’t be any cost for the parking exemptions for the rest of 2021.
The town’s exemption program is in place from April 16 to Oct. 31 each year. Beginning Nov. 1, winter parking restrictions will start and no further exemptions will be granted for on-street parking.
