This article is a daily tracker of confirmed positive cases of COVID-19, closed classes and outbreaks at York Region schools.

It is updated daily during the week when health and school officials provide up-to-date information on the status of cases.

The darker the colour on the map below, the more positive cases among staff and students have been confirmed in local schools. Hover or click on your city or town to see the total number of cases in schools and other details.

As of Sept. 29 at 6 p.m., there are 44 confirmed/probable cases among staff and students in York Region District School Board and 25 confirmed/probable cases in York Catholic District School Board.

There are 14 confirmed/probable cases in among staff and students private schools and 3 in French public and Catholic schools in York Region.

Of the 69 cases in the public and Catholic boards, 21 are in secondary schools.

There are seven schools with declared COVID-19 outbreaks in Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill and Newmarket.

An outbreak is declared in schools with two or more laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases within a 14-day period, with at least one case that could have been contracted in the school.

School outbreaks with positive COVID-19 tests:

School outbreaks makeup about 1.8 per cent of positive COVID-19 cases in York Region.

As of Sept. 29, York Region public health reported 7,671 confirmed cases among children between 4- and 18-years-old in York Region -- about 14 per cent of cases.

Of those between 12- and 17-years-old, 74.7 per cent are fully vaccinated with two does.
