Ontario’s transportation ministry is inviting residents to a community engagement and transit corridor environmental study webinar scheduled Sep. 29 over the GTA West Highway, it said in a news release Sept. 13
The ministry said it is in Stage 2 of its environmental assessment after “confirming the preferred route and 2020 focused analysis area on Aug. 7, 2020.”
However, after public uproar over the proposed highway that will cross through Vaughan's protected Greenbelt, the federal minister of environment and climate change designated the GTA West Study under the Federal Impact Assessment Act on May 3.
Both Vaughan and King withdrew their endorsement of the proposed highway, however, York Region is still backing the bid.
