The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville will require proof of identification and full COVID-19 vaccination to access indoor town facilities starting Sept. 22.
The step is being taken by the town to help increase vaccination rates, protect individuals in higher-risk indoor settings, and keep businesses open as the province continues to confront the Delta-driven fourth wave of COVID-19.
“For the safety of our residents, all town staff will be fully vaccinated; we ask that residents do the same to keep our staff safe and working to keep our facilities running,” town chief administrative officer Rob Adams said. “We encourage residents to get their vaccines if they have not yet done so, so that they can continue to enjoy our facilities and services offered by the town.”
Under the Reopening Ontario Act, patrons will be required at the point of entry upon any indoor facility to provide proof of identification (name and date of birth on one document) and proof of being fully vaccinated (two doses plus 14 days) against COVID-19. Limited exemptions apply. All applicable health and safety requirements continue to apply during this time including screening, masks, and physical distancing.
In advance of Sept. 22, all Ontarians can print or download their vaccination receipt from the provincial booking portal at covid19.ontariohealth.ca. Those who need support obtaining a copy of their vaccination receipt including those who do not have access to a computer or printer can call the provincial vaccine contact centre at 1-833-943-3900.
Failing to comply with the above requirements can result in charges under the ROA. If charged under Part I of the Provincial Offences Act (POA), set fine amounts are $750 for individuals and $1,000 for corporations.
