Improvements continue on Leslie Street from Elgin Mills Road to 19th Avenue to accommodate growth and improve traffic flow in Richmond Hill.

When: Anticipated completion in fall 2021
Where: Leslie Street, from Elgin Mills Road to 19th Avenue
Construction update:
Since work began in fall 2019, the following improvements have been completed:
Widened Leslie Street from two to four lanes
Reconstructed McCague Avenue to bring it in line with the new Leslie Street
Installed two large culverts on Leslie Street that convey tributaries of the Rouge River
Installed concrete storage tanks to collect stormwater run-off during large storms
Installed storm sewers
The work still to be completed includes:
Intersection work at Leslie Street and William F. Bell Parkway, including paving work and activating the permanent traffic signals
Boulevard, sidewalk and street lighting work
Final paving, tree planting and landscaping
Impacts to traffic:
Leslie Street will remain open to traffic, and access will be maintained
Temporary lane reductions may be required Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or delays related to COVID-19 public health guidelines. York Region will provide advance notice whenever possible.
