York Region urges attendees, staff at Vaughan wedding, shower to get COVID-19 tests

York Region Public Health issued a public notice Aug. 20 for people who attended a wedding shower Aug. 10 and another wedding Aug. 12 at La Primavera Event Space in Vaughan.

Public health issued the notice after three confirmed cases of COVID-19 were linked to the events.

"York Region Public Health continues to investigate and conduct case and contact management. To date, three laboratory-confirmed cases among York Region residents have been associated with these events," Patrick Casey, York Region director of corporate communications, said.

Casey said people who attend either of the events, both guests and staff, should take the following actions, even if they are fully vaccinated:

• Get tested for COVID-19 at a COVID-19 assessment centre as soon as possible, even if you are currently asymptomatic. If you are currently experiencing symptoms, no matter how mild they may seem, self-isolate immediately and seek assessment and testing.

• Monitor yourself for new or worsening signs and symptoms related to COVID-19 until Aug. 23 (10 days after your last possible exposure).
