Two large-scale COVID-19 vaccination clinics led by York Region Public Health are closing Aug. 15 after regular operating hours.

Clinics located at Aaniin Community Centre in Markham and Richmond Green Sports Complex in Richmond Hill will be discontinued as York Region’s rollout of vaccinations has reached 82 per cent of eligible residents with at least one dose. More than 75 per cent of eligible people over the age of 12 in the region have been fully vaccinated.

“We extend our collective thanks to the City of Markham and the City of Richmond Hill for opening their facilities as mass vaccination clinic sites,” said York Region’s corporate communications director, Patrick Casey. “And (we) extend appreciation to the countless regional and municipal staff and community volunteers who together have made these clinics a resounding success.”

Individuals with a vaccination appointment booked at either clinic after the scheduled closure date will have their appointment automatically rebooked at another nearby York Region COVID-19 vaccination clinic.
