7 new board members join CHATS York Region in supporting older adults

CHATS-Community & Home Assistance to Seniors’ mission is to advocate for and deliver high quality, person-centred home and community services, providing dignity and choice for aging at home. We are delighted to be able to welcome our new board and committee members to the team.

Judy Cameron: Judy will be joining our Board of Directors. She brings with her, twenty years of director and committee chair experience with publicly funded boards and volunteer committees, most notably with the Central LHIN and Job Skills of York Region. Judy has an M.B.A., McMaster University, Information Systems, Finance and Accounting; and B.A, York University, Economics.

Fareen Kassam: Fareen will be joining our Board of Directors and our Governance Committee. Fareen is an experienced lawyer with several years of experience working with not-for-profit organizations focusing on health, education and poverty alleviation. She is a past member of various volunteer organizations such as World Partnership Walk (WPW), Aga Khan Health Board, Ontario Justice Education Network, and the National Organization of Immigrant & Visible Minority Woman of Canada.

Dean Wood: Dean will be joining our Board of Directors as well as our Finance and Audit Committee. Dean has extensive experience in Canadian and international operations, general management, marketing, sales, human resources, M&A and contract negotiations within the pharmaceutical industry and healthcare services. He has his chartered accounting designation and is a current member in good standing of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. Bachelor of Commerce, Honours at Queen’s University, School of Business.

Grant Waddell: Grant will join our Finance and Audit Committee. He brings with him extensive knowledge of Public Sector Procurement principles and practices as well as solid command and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Ontario Human Rights Code and AODA. Grant has his Bachelor of Science, Honours from the University of Toronto as well as a Clinical Microbiologist Specialist Degree; completing courses in mathematics, statistics, virology, microbiology, immunology, and genetics.

Brenda MacPherson: Brenda will be joining our Quality Committee. Brenda is an experienced healthcare leader with a Master of Nursing, a passion for community health care, and excellent healthcare system knowledge. She has her Master of Nursing, Athabasca University; Bachelor of Science in Nursing, University of Ottawa and is a member of the College of Nurses, the Registered Nurses Association Ontario, and the Canadian Federation of University Women.

Ian Ritchie: Ian will also be joining our Quality Committee. Ian is a results-oriented health care executive with a proven track record in designing, implementing and leading programs for high-performing health care organizations. He is currently the regional director for Toronto Central Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) and the Toronto Central LIHN (TCLHIN), where he oversees the delivery of care to 5,000+ seniors and clients within the GTA transitioning within multiple care settings. He has his Honours Bachelor of Social Work and Bachelor of Arts, Sociology from the Lakeside University and received the Volunteer Excellence Award -- Lakehead Regional Family Centre (1996).

Krista Robinson-Holt: Krista will be joining our Quality Committee. Krista brings with her a wealth of experience, serving as a consultant to one of Canada’s largest senior living brands -- Chartwell, and as Director of Health Planning and Public Affairs for the Ontario Long Term Care Association (OLTCA). She has her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Honours), and Master of Nursing Administration (Honours), Faculty of Nursing from the University of Toronto.

Each new member brings something unique to the table that will help CHATS continue to support older adults to live best at home and in their communities.
