The transformation of the Unionville GO Station into a "mobility hub" wraps up this month with finishing work on the parking lots taking place the second week of August.
Portions of the parking lot will be closed while crews perform final paving and line painting.
There will be no changes, however, to the current pedestrian route, platform access or impacts to public transit modes during the work.
Asphalt grinding and paving activities will take place overnight between Aug. 9 and 13 between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Upon completion of final paving, crews will demobilize, clean up and perform line painting.
That is expected to take place during daytime hours between Aug. 14 to 16.
Work may be rescheduled or extended, however, due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
While a portion of the parking lot will remain closed during the duration of the work, driveways will remain open and sections of customer and accessible parking spots will remain available throughout the week, according to Metrolinx.
The parking lot is expected to reopen on Monday, Aug. 16.
Since Unionville GO station is an important connection for Markham and for the entire region, Metrolinx has been creating a convenient “mobility hub” providing connections to VIVA BRT, YRT local bus service, pedestrian and cycling paths, and eventually the new 407 Transitway.
