York Region has marked another COVID-19 vaccination milestone with more than 50 per cent of residents aged 12 and older fully vaccinated.

As well, nearly 80 per cent of residents 12 and older have received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, according to regional spokesperson Patrick Casey.

As of 8 a.m. today, July 7, an additional 33,000 COVID-19 appointments will be released for all eligible individuals for the week of July 12 to 18, he added.

New appointments can be booked online or by phone by visiting york.ca/COVID19Vaccine.

A vaccination clinic at Emily Carr Secondary School at 4901 Rutherford Rd. in Woodbridge has been added to the bookings.

The clinic, which will run Sunday to Wednesday until Aug. 18, is available for individuals age 12 and older who live, work or go to school in York Region for first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, Casey said.

Due to a shortage in Pfizer vaccine supply, the Moderna vaccine will be used for all first and second dose appointments for individuals age 18 and older at all York Region Public Health-run clinics to at least Sunday, July 18, he added.

Individuals age 12 to 17 remain exempt from this change and will be vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine.
