Regional health-care provider Mackenzie Health has appointed Fay Lim-Lambie as the new chair of the board of directors. Lim-Lambie, dean at George Brown College, will take over the post from Mark Falbo, president of Mircom Group of Companies.

"With her commitment to our community and her extensive leadership experience, Fay embodies Mackenzie Health's mission, vision and values," said Altaf Stationwala, Mackenzie Health's president and CEO.

"Her dedication to our cause will allow our talented team of health-care workers to continue to focus on providing the best care to our patients and families."

Lim-Lambie is currently the dean of the Centre for Health Sciences and the Centre for Community Services and Early Childhood at George Brown College. Prior to her current role, she held different executive positions at multiple organizations.

A registered social worker, Lim-Lambie is often called upon by the Office of the Children's Lawyer under the Ministry of the Attorney General to assist with high-conflict child custody cases.

Lim-Lambie, a longtime resident of York region, has been a member of the Mackenzie Health board of directors since 2016 and has helped guide the organization through periods of growth and change, including its most recent transformation to a two-hospital system supported by a network of community-based services.

"I am thrilled to take on this new role as chair of the Mackenzie Health board of directors and I'm excited to continue our work with this talented group of individuals who all exemplify what it means to be a public servant," said Lim-Lambie.

"As we embark on this new chapter in our organization's history, we look forward to working together to see the Mackenzie Health team through the pandemic and continue to make a difference in the lives of the residents in the communities we serve."

Along with Lim-Lambie's appointment, Mackenzie Health also named Stephanie Zee, managing director within the Financial Crimes Unit at BMO Financial Group, as the new vice-chair and welcomed several new members to the board:

Under the leadership of outgoing chair Falbo, Mackenzie Health navigated its way through a global pandemic supporting the health-care system while working to fully open its second hospital, the first net new hospital to be built in Ontario in more than 30 years.

Mackenzie Health includes the new Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital and Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital, each with a full-service emergency department, core services such as surgery, medicine and critical care along with specialized programs.
