The City of Toronto has announced a special vaccination clinic taking place at Mel Lastman Square in North York this weekend.
The clinic -- dubbed ‘Vax the North’ -- is designed to help boost COVID-19 vaccine rates in the area.
“Vax the North builds on the success of our Team Toronto Home Stretch Vaccine Push to make sure everyone is able to get vaccinated and protect themselves and their loved ones against COVID-19,” said Mayor John Tory in a statement.
“Even as the percentage of vaccinated Torontonians increase, we cannot ignore areas of the city that have low uptake.”
The city says the biggest lag in vaccination rate lies within the 18 to 45 age group.
The clinic will run Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 in the morning to 10:30 at night.
Toronto launched the ‘Home Stretch Vaccine Initiative’ last week -- the one-week vaccination push prioritized six of the city’s neighbourhoods where vaccination rates are low.
