If you're struggling to put meals on the table, there’s a free food table at Newmarket’s busiest intersection where you can grab a can to help tide you over.

The table, at the northeast corner of Yonge and Davis, has a sign that says “Free Food. Take only what you need.”

It is an initiative called the Full Table Project.

A spokesperson couldn't be reached for comment but the project’s website said it has a goal of “providing access to bare essentials and food to those in need, while striving to inspire and improve the lives of the less fortunate in our communities.”

There are 11 tables, including one at Bayview Avenue and Major Mackenzie Drive in Richmond Hill.

“Full Table Project began fully pursuing their initiative of ending hunger throughout Toronto and its surrounding communities over one year ago. Since then they have remained avid in their efforts, actively arranging free food pickup tables that are filled daily, located strategically throughout the GTA,” the website said.

“With a strong presence in Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Newmarket, Richmond Hill and Whitby, Full Table Project aims to continue to work with residents of various neighbourhoods to expand their operations and reach even more communities that are in need.”
